Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze medical records to ensure accurate coding and billing - Assign appropriate codes using ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG coding systems - Verify patient information and insurance coverage for billing purposes - Prepare and submit claims to insurance companies - Follow up on unpaid or denied claims and resolve any billing discrepancies - Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations - Collaborate with healthcare providers to obtain necessary documentation for billing purposes - Stay updated on changes in coding guidelines and regulations Skills:
- Proficiency in medical coding and billing procedures - Knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG coding systems - Attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing processes - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures Note:
Certification in medical coding (such as CPC or CCS) is preferred but not required.
